Police arrest 102-year-old woman for a great reason

ST. LOUIS, MO (WCMH) — She wasn’t public enemy number one, but she was celebrating 1-0-2 when police escorted Edie Simms into a cruiser.

When KPLR asked Simms if she enjoyed the experience of being arrested she didn’t hold back. “Oh yes, handcuffs and all,” she said.

Police had the honor of arresting Simms, Friday, all because it fulfilled bucket list wish of riding in the back of a police car.

“These types of events and Ms. Simms help us do that and we`re more than happy to do these type of things.  We love it and we get more out of it than the seniors do,” said Sgt. John McLaughlin with the St. Louis Police Department.

Simms told KPLR that the “arrest” goes along with her spirit of helping her community.

“It`s a great world if you just open your eyes and look at it.”
