COLUMBUS (WCMH) – Columbus police officers say they chased a man through Clintonville after he robbed a pizza shop at knife-point.
It happened shortly before 2:30am at Pizza Fresca at 2404 North High Street.
Police say James A. Williams brandished a knife and demanded cash and personal items from employees. After employees gave him what he asked for, he got into a tan minivan and drove away.
Police spotted the van and started following.
Officers on the scene told NBC4 that speeds reached up to 75mph along Indianola Avenue.
The pursuit ended at the intersection of Indianola Avenue and Park Blvd when Williams hit a pole.
The stolen items were recovered from the van.
Williams is now in jail, charged with aggravated robbery and felony fleeing.
