COLUMBUS (WCMH) – Columbus police said a 59-year-old man was struck and killed by a pickup truck after falling into a roadway.

Police said witnesses reported Matthew D. Fries, of Columbus, was lying in the grass next to South High Street, south of Markison Avenue. He then got up and stumbledd onto the roadway where he fell down.

A passing pickup truck, driven by 68-year-old Thomas Hayes, struck the man.

Fries was taken to Grant Medical Center, and later pronounced dead.
