COLUMBUS (WCMH) – Columbus Police have identified a suspect in a fatal shooting on the city’s south side Saturday morning.
Police say Monteria L. Watkins, 32, is charged with murder for the death of Mark E. Horne, 48. Watkins’ whereabouts are unknown, and police say he is considered armed and dangerous.
The announcement comes after an early morning SWAT standoff near Lockbourne and Marion Roads early Sunday morning. Police officers were executing a search warrant at a south side home in order to obtain evidence in connection with Horne’s murder. According to police, the occupants of the house were uncooperative and barricaded themselves inside.
The standoff with the SWAT team lasted more than four hours. Police detained two people for questioning in connection with the homicide investigation.What others are clicking on:
