WESTERVILLE (WCMH) – Westerville police are investigating a homicide that occurred this morning at a home on Kanpur Place.
Tyrone Lauderdale, 42, is charged with one count of murder in the death of Ranae Baxter, 44.
According to court records, investigators say Lauderdale called his daughter and told her that he stabbed and killed his girlfriend, Baxter. Lauderdale’s daughter reported the phone call to Kettering police, who called Westerville police.
Westerville Assistant Police Chief Charles Chandler said two adult children and one minor were found inside the home when police arrived.
The suspect turned himself in at the Montgomery County Jail and is currently in custody at the Dayton Police Department.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
Court records from November 2018 show that Baxter filed a police report on Lauderdale, saying she believed he would cause harm to her and her family. In those court records, Baxter says that he threatened her and would get his revenge.
Kettering Police Department, Dayton Police Department and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation are assisting with the investigation.
