WORTHINGTON, OH (WCMH) — The Worthington Police Department says one person was arrested following several hit-skip accidents.

Officers with Worthington Police and Columbus Police were looking for a vehicle in connection with a series of hit-skip accidents Sunday.

Police say the vehicle caused a crash at Sancus Boulevard and Lakeview Plaza in Worthington and fled the scene.

Both Worthington Police and Columbus Police responded to more reports of the vehicle’s location. They found the vehicle had crashed into a tree, a utility pole and a guardrail in the area of Worthington- Galena Road and Highland Avenue.

The driver fled on foot. Witnesses say the suspect was bleeding profusely. He was later found in a dumpster at 6740 North High Street.

He was taken into custody and taken to Riverside Hospital.

Worthington Galena Road is expected to be closed through rush hour on Monday due to the pole down.

Dispatchers with Worthington Police originally told NBC4 that the crash was out of a chase with Columbus Police but now tell NBC4 the departments were responding to additional reports of the vehicle’s location.
