ORCHARD PARK, NY (WIVB) – A man who ran away from the scene of a suspected overdose ended up in jail after New York police stopped him on Thursday.

When police responded to a reported overdose on Webster Rd. that morning, they saw Tyler Melisz, 23, run from the scene. Police say Melisz then got in a vehicle and drove off.

An officer later stopped Melisz and began to search his vehicle. Inside of it, police say they found heroin, marijuana and a hypodermic needle.

Further investigation revealed that Melisz’s driver’s license had been revoked, according to police. Authorities say his license had 33 current suspensions. Thirty of those suspensions were due to openly disregarding the law, police say.

In addition to this, police say Melisz had an outstanding bench warrant out of Hamburg after being accused of reckless driving and other violations.

Melisz was jailed in the Erie County Holding Center on $5,000 bail.What others are clicking on:
