WEST CHESTER, OH (AP) – Authorities outside Cincinnati have jailed a 31-year-old man after they say he surrendered to end a hostage standoff of around 30 hours.
Butler County authorities say a 10-year-old boy was taken to a hospital Sunday morning as a precaution, but no injuries were reported.
Sheriff Richard Jones said the event began early Saturday following an altercation inside an apartment in a northern Cincinnati suburb. The gunman later barricaded himself in a garage with the child, who’s not related.
Authorities say he fired more than 30 shots, hitting an armored vehicle and a robot.
Donald Gazaway is charged with kidnapping, felonious assault and inducing panic. No attorney was listed for him.
