COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A state representative has been stripped from all his committee assignments following allegations of child sex abuse.

Documents obtained from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations date to 2023, when the minor alleged Rep. Rodney Creech (R-West Alexandria) was inappropriate toward her. The case was ultimately dismissed, and no charges were filed.

Texts show the minor complaining that Creech was rubbing her legs, grabbing her waist and that she was “put to tears” from being so uncomfortable around Creech. The investigation also alleges that Creech “climbed into bed with her,” only wearing his underwear, while having an erection. In a witness’s recount, they recall that Creech admitted to getting into bed with the minor but denied having an erection.

Rep. Phil Plummer (R-Dayton) acted as a witness in the case. Plummer said he had conversations with Creech when the allegations were brought to law enforcement two years ago. In the interview with investigators, Plummer called the comments Creech made about the accusations “disgusting, uncalled for, and appalling.”

Plummer said he cannot make any public statement about the investigation or his role in it because Creech is looking at slander lawsuits. He described that as “totally incomprehensible.”

In a social media post, Creech called this all a “horrible false allegation that has turned political.” He chalked it up to dirty politics and said he knew this case would come up as he gears up to run for State Senate.

Ohio House Speaker Matt Huffman (R-Lima) stripped Creech of all his committee assignments.

Huffman said his office was made aware of the BCI investigation at the end of April, the office received the files on May 1, and he was briefed by lawyers on May 4. Huffman has said that he would ask Creech to consider resigning.
