COLUMBUS (WCMH) — The birds are back at the Ohio State Fair.

After taking a year off from the Ohio State Fair the birds are all back in the infamous poultry barn.

After the Avian Influenza struck the Midwest last year state officials decided to play it safe and not have the chickens, turkeys and other birds be featured at what is typically the country’s largest poultry show.

This year there are an estimated 2,800 birds housed in the more than 100-year-old poultry barn including turkeys, chickens and ducks.

The poultry show takes place in Saturday.

Clell Agler, Director of the poultry barn, said the chickens are extremely popular.

“People love to come through. Grandmas love to bring their grandkids through and say, ‘we used to have those on the farm.’ Everybody’s positive, excited. They come up to you, (and say) ‘we missed it last year,'” said Agler.
