SEATTLE, WA (WCMH) – A Seattle man is facing a felony assault charge after throwing a batarang at police as he was being pursued.

The batarang is a shuriken style weapon that is shaped like a bat. It’s used by DC comics superhero Batman as a weapon.

According to Seattle police, officers were called to a bar in the Capitol Hill area around 6:30pm Monday after a man threatened a bouncer with a homemade spear.

The man fled as officers arrived, leading to a chase. At one point during the pursuit, officers saw the man throw something toward a police SUV. After they caught the 23-year-old suspect, the discovered the object was a sharp, black Batman-style throwing star.

The ‘batarang’ was embedded in the lower front end of the SUV.

The man was arrested on a felony assault charge. Police say they are also pursuing weapons and obstruction charges.
