(KARE) A group of Minnesota preschoolers are fed up with repeated vandalism at their playground.

Butterfly Hill Nature Preschool in Alexandria focuses on the outdoors as a natural learning environment. Its playground behind the United Methodist Church is mainly made up of donations from the community.

“We embrace outdoor play,” said director and teacher Kristen Peterson. “We actually call this our outdoor classroom.”

So when the playground was repeatedly vandalized, it not only frustrated the adults, but the kids too.

“I felt both sad and mad,” said 5-year-old Flynn Bakkum. “They broke our house for real,” another student added.

The playground was off limits for repeated repairs. So, the class decided to turn the terrible act in to a teachable moment.
