Prosecutor identifies second Ashland homicide victim; Judge sets $1M bond

ASHLAND, OH (AP) – A judge has set a $1 million bond for an Ohio man facing charges in the deaths of two people and the sexual assault of a third person.

Forty-year-old Shawn Grate appeared in a video bond hearing Friday and was appointed an attorney after telling the judge he had no money, job or home.

Grate was arrested Tuesday after a woman called 911 and said she was being held inside a home in Ashland. Police arrived, found the woman and the remains of two people, including 43-year-old Stacey Stanley. The Ashland County Prosecutor identified the second victim as 29-year-old Elizabeth Griffith.

Grate is charged with murder and kidnapping. More charges are expected.

Police say Grate also confessed to killing a woman in Richland County where another body was found. He has yet to be charged.
