VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – A local restaurant is raising funds for Mercy Chefs starting Tuesday.

Quemar, a Latin American and Mexican restaurant, will host the Dine For a Cause event that encourages customers to dine in and support the non-profit’s mission. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the non-profit. The event will be on 1201 Laskin Road in Virginia Beach from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, and 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday.

According to its website, Mercy Chefs is a Portsmouth-based disaster relief and humanitarian aid organization that provides “professionally prepared, restaurant-quality meals to victims, volunteers, and first responders in natural disasters and emergencies.” 10 On Your Side shared Mercy Chefs’ story in July when volunteers made hot meals in Texas for those impacted by the deadly flooding in Kerr County.
