COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Columbus police are looking for an armed robbery suspect.

It happened around 5:05am Saturday just south of campus at the Speedway Gas Station located on West 5th Avenue at Olentangy River Road.

Police say the suspect walked into the convenience store, placed a note on the counter and said, “This is a robbery.”

The suspect kept his hands in his pockets, but the employee had reason to believe the suspect was armed. The employee gave the suspect cash from the register.

The suspect then took the note, the cash and took off northbound behind the SpringHill Suites Columbus OSU hotel.

He is described as a black male in his late 30s, about 6’4″, 200-250 pounds with a short full beard. He was last seen wearing a white hat, light gray hooded sweatshirt, tan shorts, black shoes and black plastic framed glasses.
