Rescue crews pull construction worker out of trench in Jefferson Twp.

JEFFERSON TWP., OH (WCMH) — Rescue crews have extricated a construction worker who fell into a trench near the intersection of Reynoldsburg New Albany Road and Blacklick Ridge Boulevard.

The Violet Township Fire Department says a contracted worker for the city of Columbus was on a piece of machinery, digging a trench for a city sewage project. The man fell about 15 feet off the machine and into the hole and was in a “precarious position.”

Heavy rescue from several departments worked to stabilize a basket and bring the man up. The rescue took about 45 minutes.

The worker was taken to Grant Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
