Rivalry week brings friendly competition on and off the field

COLUMBUS (WCMH)– There are three days to go in the American Red Cross’s annual Ohio State-Michigan Blood Battle.

The two schools have tried to collect more blood donations than the other, since 1982.

Michigan has won 19 Blood Battles, compared to Ohio State’s 14 victories. The two schools tied in 2000.

This year’s competition began on November 1, and as of Friday, Michigan was beating Ohio State by roughly 500 donated units.

Donations will be collected through Wednesday.
