Some of the world’s best athletes will be participating in the Olympics in Rio this summer.
These are people who have trained all their lives for a few moments of greatness. But while all that effort and accomplishment in their chosen sport may get them to the top of the game, it doesn’t mean that they are great at everything.
NBC Olympics talked with Olympic hopefuls. Watch the video to see what the athletes said they’re bad at.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW: The Road to Rio – 2016 Summer Olympics
Here is information on the athletes in this video:
- Tyler Clary: Clary won gold in London in 2012 in the 200-meter backstroke. He did not make the U.S. swimming team for Rio.
- Michelle Carter: Carter won the women’s shot put qualifying contest and is headed to Rio.
- Jenny Simpson: Simpson won the 1,500-meter race at the trials and will compete in Rio.
- Aly Raisman: Raisman made her second Olympic gymnastics team Sunday night. She earned team gold in London and tied for third in the individual all-around competition, although she did not medal because of a tiebreaker.
- Alev Kelter: Kelter is a member of the U.S. rugby team.
- Sam Mikulak: Mikulak will compete in Rio with the gymnastics team.
- Ashton Eaton: Eaton will compete in the decathlon for the U.S. at the 2016 games.
The Opening Ceremony for the Rio Olympic Games can be seen August 5 on NBC4 WCMH-TV. NBC4’s Jerod Smalley will be in Rio with live reports during the Olympics, which run from Aug. 5 – 21.
