Roads will be slippery as slush re-freezes

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH)–Overnight snow has turned to slush in many central Ohio neighborhoods. That slush will re-freeze Tuesday night, making roads slick as temperatures fall below freezing.

Columbus resident Lisa Faulkner said, “It’s only an inch, but it came down like rain.”

Cyclist Erik Helgeson added, “I’m originally from northern Minnesota so this is what I have been waiting for for a few months now.”

While Helgeson biked in the slush, Jeffrey Solomon trudged along and walked door to door delivering mail.

“It’s very difficult, especially on days like today when there is a lot of slush and ice,” he said. “You really have to be careful going up and down stairs because you could have a bad fall. It’s happened before.”

Solomon says ice is the most difficult weather condition to deliver in, but slush is no picnic. Either way, he is always happy to see cleared paths.

He added, “It makes a world of difference, a world of difference. With a clear path those things aren’t in the back of your mind.”

Cars navigated area neighborhoods and side streets through the slippery slush.

As adults were busy driving from point A to point B, most area children were celebrating a snow day.

Student Noah Grayem said, “This is great packing snow so I wanted to get out here and have some fun.”

With freezing temperatures overnight, side streets will be slick in the morning.
