COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Each and every single day, there are reports of sexual assaults, and domestic violence, both inside the home, and on the streets of central Ohio.

Recently, Columbus Police investigated a series of rapes they thought might be connected.

While there has been one arrest for one of those rapes, there is still the ongoing threat with more potential suspects out there.

Many women and girls turn to self-defense courses to educated themselves on smart ways to get away just long enough to end the threat of a sexual assault.

Today, a class for anyone that wants to learn a few of the techniques that could help save the victim from the unthinkable.

At McFerson Commons in Columbus today, ROX on the Green – A Self Defense Class for Women.

ROX stands for Ruling Our Experiences, and it is a local group hoping to develop skills in girls and women to deal with social, personal, and academic issues from bullying and aggression to dealing with sexual harassment and violence.

The event costs $35 to attend with proceeds going back into the program to support their mission here at home.
