SAVANNAH, GA (WSAV) – While WSAV was reporting from East Broad and President Street Saturday morning, a group of homeless came wading through waist deep water.
The homeless told the news crew that they didn’t know they needed to evacuate. They also said there were homeless under the Truman Parkway who were up to their necks in water during the storm.
Two college students nearby gave the group blankets and clothes from their backs. The news crew gave them snacks they had in the car.
So far, nine people have been reported dead in the United States after Hurricane Matthew moved up the Atlantic coast.
