WOOSTER, OH (WCMH)– A little girl from Wooster, who was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer, is getting help from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

On a video posted to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Facebook page, Capt. Doug Hunter introduces 6-year-old Madison who has Medulloblastoma, a rare cancer that normally affects young people.

In the video, Madison describes the time she got to meet some therapy dogs and Hunter talks about the family’s need during the difficult time.  “Talking with their parents, they’re not really asking for anything they’re saying ‘Hey, we’re not the people with our hands out’ but they did express a need for some gas money.”

Hunter asks people to send Madison a card with words of encouragement and a gas card if possible, to help her and her family.

“Yesterday, was my first day of kindergarten, but I couldn’t go because I had to get a blood transfusion,” Madison says toward the end of the video.
