COSHOCTON CO., OH (WCMH)–The Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office said that an 8-year-old boy was struck by lighting and died on Wednesday afternoon.
The sheriff’s office said they received a call from the boy’s mother around 12:35 p.m. in the area of Jefferson Township.

The boy, who family friends identified as Noah Stutzman, was reportedly bringing the horses inside from the storm.
He was transported to Coschocton Co. Memorial Hospital, where he died from his injury. His sister was also hit by lightning, but is expected to be okay.
Ohio is in the top 5 states of people hit by lightning every year since 1959, and in the top 10 states in the last decade.
NBC4 meteorologist Jym Ganahl says there are usually about 30 days every year in Central Ohio that storms bring lightning.
The National Weather Service designated the third week of June as Lightning Safety Awareness Week.
