SCARSDALE, NY (WCMH)–A boy from New York received a shout-out from President Barack Obama during his speech at a refugee summit Wednesday.
Six-year-old Alex wrote to the president about 5-year-old Omran Daqneesh.
Last month, the world was moved by an image of Omran, left bloodied in the back of an ambulance after an air strike destroyed his home in Aleppo.
In his handwritten letter to the White House, Alex asks President Obama to bring Omran to his house where “we will be waiting for you guys with flags, flowers, and balloons.”
Alex offered to teach Omran how to ride a bike and how to do math, and said Omran would be his brother.
He says in the letter that he has a friend at school who is from Syria, and said the three of them would play together.
