DENVER, CO (WCMH) – Sports Authority is closing, and everything must go, including the naming rights for the Denver Broncos home field. Problem is, nobody wants to bid.
According to Denver Business Journal, the deadline to bid has been extended a second time after no proposals were received.
The reluctance to bid could be due to an ongoing court battle with the stadium’s owner over the ability of Sports Authority to sell the name in the first place.
Whoever takes over the naming rights contract would have their name on the stadium through the 2020 season.
NBC Sports previously reported that Native Roots, a legal marijuana dispensary expressed interest in obtaining the naming rights in April.
