WASHINGTON (WCMH) — For the first time in 97 years, the price of a first class stamp is going to get a little cheaper.

The cost of mailing a one ounce letter will drop two-cents from 49 to 47 cents. Commercial prices will also decrease.

Postcard stamp prices will also drop by a penny to 34 cents, and international stamps will cost $1.15, down from $1.20.

The price drop is part of a pre-arranged agreement with Congress, CNN Money reports. Back in 2014, the Post Office got to increase the price of stamps by 3 cents to give it an income boost. The agreement was for two years only.

The last time stamp prices went down was in July 1919, when first-class stamp prices dropped from 3 cents to 2 cents.
