COLUMBUS, Ohio – Dublin Coffman high school track star Abby Steiner won the State Championship in the 100 meter dash as a freshman. Now, she aims to break the state record in the outdoor 100 and 200 meter dashes.

She already broke the state record in the indoor 100 and 200 meter, so she stands a good chance of achieving her goals this season in the outdoor meets.

“I think what motivates me most is the goals that I set for myself,” said Steiner.

And she wrote her goals down on a piece of paper she keeps posted on her bulletin board at home.

Steiner said, “I’ll go back to them and look at them, and if I ever don’t want to go to practice I’ll be like, I’m working towards this & I have this end goal in sight.”

Greg King is the girls head track coach at Dublin Coffman, and he says Abby’s work ethic drives her to be better daily.

“Sometimes with Abby you’ll just see, like, oh my God…she just won a 200 meter by 20 meters, you just have to stop and appreciate it,” said King.

Although her state title brings her confidence if she feels nervous before a race, Steiner says she remains focused on her goals this season.

“I mean it still hasn’t really set in that I have those records…and it still won’t for a while,” said Steiner.
