COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Gov. Mike DeWine has ordered U.S. and Ohio flags to be flown at half staff.

On Friday morning, flags will be lowered at all public buildings and grounds in Greene County. They will stay lowered through sunset Saturday. All other public buildings and grounds throughout the state are advised to lower flags at their own discretion.

The flags were lowered in honor of the life and service of former Greene County Judge Robert Hagler. He served as the county’s probate judge for 41 years before retiring in 2013. Hagler died on Aug. 3, according to the Greene County Probate Court.

“[Hagler’s] 41 years of service to our community as the Greene County Probate Judge left a lasting impact on all who encountered him,” Judge Thomas O’Diam of Greene County said in an announcement.
