COLUMBUS (WCMH) — A frightening morning for 78-year-old Mary Jackson.
Tuesday morning’s heavy rain and high winds knocked a tree above her trailer home over, sending it crashing inside.
“I came into the kitchen to get me a bottle of water to sit on my stand and I turned around and started sitting down and all of a sudden I heard it sounded like a strike of lightning and all of a sudden the ceiling came in,” said Jackson.
“I knew she was ok from talking to her and at that point, I told my husband we need to call the fire department. We are not going to be able to get her out,” said neighbor, Laura Staton.
Jackson says she is blessed to be alive and have caring neighbors.
“I want to say I love them and say God bless them for helping me out. They are the only ones that started helping me when they moved in,” said Jackson.
