COLUMBUS (WCMH) – A woman suffered life-threatening injuries after a fall from a third floor window of a sorority house near Ohio State’s campus early Thursday morning.

It happened at the Alpha Phi sorority house on East 15th Avenue near Indianola Avenue shortly before 3:30am Thursday.

Columbus police say Ohio State student Kalynn E. Smith, 20,  was taken to Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center in critical condition. Investigators say she is expected to survive her injuries.

Police say it appears the fall was accidental.

The executive director of Alpha Phi’s national office issued the following statement:

“Alpha Phi was devastated to learn that Kalynn has been hurt, and we are grateful for the wonderful support shown by the Ohio State community for our chapter in this time of deep concern for their cherished sister. Kalynn is a respected member and officer of the Rho chapter, currently serving as Vice President of Membership Recruitment, and is a much-loved friend and sister.”Keep checking NBC4i.com for real-time updates on this story.
