NEW YORK (NBC News) — Father’s Day is just around the corner, and dads aren’t always easy to shop for.

According to a recent Best Buy survey, more than half said tech is on their wish list.

In that vein, the latest TVs offer a better picture, but their sound doesn’t always get the same upgrade.

Best Buy’s Travis Miller says a sound bar can take your home entertainment system to the next level.

“It allows you to very easily and cleanly hook up upgraded audio to your home theater system,” he says.

Multiple drivers in the sound bar allow for a virtual surround sound without all the cables of traditional models.

Meanwhile, WiFi speakers can take the sound beyond the living room.

“One of the most amazing things that is out there on the market for audio right now is being able to do whole home WiFi through a company like SONOS or BOSE,” Miller says.

You can wirelessly stream music from an app on your smart phone, tablet or computer to multiple speaker zones.

If Dad heads outside, a portable speaker can go with him.
