Suspected ‘Buckeye Bandit’ indicted for bank robbery

COLUMBUS (WCMH) – A federal grand jury indicted a man authorities dubbed the ‘Buckeye Bandit’ on a single charge of bank robbery.

Ikechi W. Emeaghara, 27, of Columbus is accused of robbing a Key Bank in northwest Columbus on October 21. After fleeing the robbery scene, police say Emeaghara became involved in a pursuit with officers.


He was shot by police after allegedly raising a gun at police in the area of 4600 Lakehurst Court. He was arrested after his release from Grant Medical Center  on November 1.

If convicted, Emeaghara faces up to 25 years in prison.

Columbus police and the FBI identified Emeaghara as a possible suspect in as many as 30 robberies in central Ohio over the last few years.
