ORANGE COUNTY, FL (WCMH) – Police say a 20-year-old Florida man was drunk when he drove around road blocks and collided with a medical helicopter.
Cameron Sunderly was arrested Wednesday after police say he drove around road blocks at an accident scene and struck the rear of a medical helicopter, damaging the tail rotor.
The crash delayed the transport of an injured pedestrian to the hospital.
According to an incident report, Sunderly told troopers, “I am sorry about tonight. For all this I am sorry.”
Sunderly’s blood alcohol level was measured at 0.188.
After his arrest Sunderly said to troopers, “I really appreciate you keeping people like me off the street,” according to the report.
A spokesperson for the medical helicopter company told WESH they are thankful nobody else was hurt.
