COLUMBUS (WCMH) – A southwest Columbus Walmart was evacuated for more than an hour Thursday due to a bomb scare.

Firefighters, police and the Columbus bomb squad were called to the Walmart at 1221 Georgesville Road shortly after 1am after someone discovered three five gallon buckets lying in a crosswalk in front of the store.

The store was evacuated and the parking lot was taped off while authorities investigated.

The bomb squad determined that the buckets contained joint compound that may have recently been purchased inside the store. They were not sure why someone would have left them in the crosswalk.

The scene was cleared and people were allowed back in the store around 2:30am.What others are clicking on:
