COLUMBUS (WCMH) – The 16-year-old accused of plotting to attack Hilliard Davidson High School went to trial for the first time today and will remain in police custody until his next hearing.
John Staley III was arrested on Oct. 7 and charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
His lawyer, Stephen Palmer, requested he be released until his next hearing on Nov. 28. The request was denied.
“He’s scared and wants to go home,” Palmer says.
The judge is now determining if Staley should tried as an adult.
Staley was originally suspended from Hilliard Davidson High School on September 22 stemming from another student telling school officials about Staley’s plan.
