COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Columbus Police say a teen is in stable condition after the report of a shooting just south of downtown.

It happened around 6:12pm. Police and EMS were called to the area of 831 Gilbert Street for the report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers found 18-year-old Jerri Campbell, who told police she had been shot by a known suspect, 19-year-old Christopher Cates.

Columbus Police say the shooting is the result of an on-going issue that lead to what was supposed to be a fight.

Campbell was taken to Grant Medical Center in stable condition with a gunshot wound to the leg.
