MILWAUKEE, WI (WCMH)– She says she had no idea she was pregnant until she gave birth at her home Tuesday morning.

According to WDJT, 17-year-old Braeley Pettigrew told police she was using the bathroom, with what she thought was a difficult bowel movement, when the baby fell into the toilet.

Police said Pettigrew originally told her mom someone had left the baby boy outside on the porch.

After police investigated, they noticed blood on the teen’s clothes and she admitted the baby was hers. She told police she made the story up because she was afraid her mom would be upset.

“I never thought I would be having a baby at 17, but my first instinct was to get him out of the toilet and wrap him up to keep him warm,” Pettigrew told WDJT.

The baby, whom she named Kayden, is currently in a NIC Unit at a local hospital and police said the teen doesn’t face any charges.What others are clicking on:
