LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) — Four teenage brothers in Kentucky are helping their community by cutting grass for free, all thanks to their mom’s punishment.
The idea started when Barbara Wilson punished her son Travis by making him cut the grass at an abandoned house down the street.
“I cut that yard. I started liking it. So I just went around cutting yards,” Travis said with a smile before cutting eight yards all for free.READ MORE: Boy works to take school supply burden off of his mother
Barbara was proud of her son, and posted about the good deed on the internet. She says it quickly went viral, and they got so many requests from around the city that the other brothers had to step in and help Travis.
“It went worldwide. We got calls and messages from Australia, Africa, Canada and California,” said Barbara.
“I was irritated you know. I didn’t want to do it,” Travis’ brother Demonte said at first. “We’ve touched a lot of people’s hearts and we’ve done good for a lot of people.”
“The greatest part of it is seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces,” his other brother, Alan, told WAVE-TV.
Once the word spread about their good deeds, they received several new lawn mowers and lots tools as donations. A GoFundMe account started for the boys has reached $79,685.
Mom and Dad said that money will not be touched until the boys go to college, but they are trying to save enough to take them all to Disney world if their grades stay up.
