COLUMBUS (WCMH) – A day after the man accused of killing an Ohio State student and a Columbus city engineer took the stand in his own defense, the jury has convicted Terrance Trent on two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and two counts of vehicular assault.

Terrance Trent, 63, is charged with two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide for the deaths of Stephanie Fibelkorn and Bill Lewis, as well as two counts of vehicular assault.

The crash happened on December 12th, 2014.

On that winter morning, prosecutors say Trent crashed his pick-up truck into a school bus on High and Broad Street, killing Lewis and Fibelkorn.

Prosecutors say Trent was driving over 60 miles per hour when he collided head-on with the bus.

Stephen Fibelkorn, father of the OSU girl who was killed, said he and his family are glad the jury reached a verdict when it did.

“We’re sad that this is the least that will happen to this gentleman. This in no way brings our loved ones back or changes anything,” said Fibelkorn.

Rhonda Lewis, wife of city engineer Bob Lewis, recognized and remembered her husband’s role as an engineer for Columbus.

“A lot of his energy was all about keeping the streets safes so we feel they’ll be safer for a few more years here,” said Lewis.
