COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (WCMH) – Texas Roadhouse now says an incident where a veteran claimed he was charged for more than what he signed for was a scam.
Last week, Doug Woodward, of Colorado Springs claimed a server at a Texas Roadhouse altered his credit card slip after he signed it, boosting the tip line.
He claimed it had happened two other times.
“I think the odds of being struck by lightning are probably better than this happening to the same person three times at Texas Roadhouse,” said Woodward.
At the time, the restaurant said they fired the server and refunded Woodward for his meal. Now, the restaurant chain claims that the entire incident was a scam.
In a statement released Monday, spokesman Travis Doster said:
“Sadly, we have discovered this was a scam. I won’t bore you with the details, but we have rehired the server, banned this gentleman for life from any Texas Roadhouse and are considering legal action.”
