NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – After a Nashville man’s homeowners’ association ordered him to remove his beloved zombie statue from his yard, it is now official.

In a 3-2 vote, Jim Grinstead said “the end is near” for Clawed, who has been a part of his yard for five of the 10 years he’s lived on Harbor Lights Drive.

Grinstead says he recently spent $12,000 on new landscaping to improve the looks of his home yet the HOA chose to focus on a piece of yard art.

“I think the homeowners’ association needs to lighten up a little bit,” Grinstead said in an earlier story.

He added the statue is a reflection of his personality.

“We have a sense of humor and that is how we want the world to think of us. It’s how we think of ourselves. People will stop sometimes and take pictures of Clawed. Our friends get a kick out of it when they come over and we’ve never had a complaint about him,” explained Grinstead.

Grinstead spoke to WKRN earlier this week when he received the letter, the first letter of which stated, “During a recent inspection of the community on April 19, 2016, it was noted that there is a zombie in your yard that needs to be removed.”

A specific timeline wasn’t given for the statue’s removal, but at the time, Grinstead said he planned to remove Clawed by the end of the week.

Sure enough, a recent vote sealed the statue’s fate. Grinstead plans to remove him by the end of the day Friday.

“Of course we’re disappointed, but we got to meet many neighbors who stopped by to offer their support. We appreciate that and especially the board members who worked hard to keep Clawed alive. Clawed will be removed by the end of today and we’ll do our best to make sure he finds a good home,” he told WKRN.What others are clicking on:
