White House counsel Don McGahn will be leaving his post this fall after an up-and-down tenure marked by his threat last year to resign if President Donald Trump continued to push for the removal of Robert Mueller as the special investigator in the Russia probe.

There is also speculation swirling in Washington that Attorney General Jeff Sessions will be out after the midterm elections. NBC4’s Mike Jackson talked to Republican Senate candidate and Trump supporter Jim Renacci about where he stands on Sessions, the Russia investigation and Robert Mueller.

“We’ve had almost 16 months of investigation. We’ve had numerous investigations, whether it’s CIA, FBI…We’ve had the House Oversight  Committee,” Renacci said. “We have not found collusion.”

Renacci said he would like to see Mueller’s team start wrapping up the investigation.

“We are spending a lot of money we don’t have and we are spending a lot of money on an investigation where we now pretty much spent a lot of time and nobody has found collusion yet,” he said.

While investigators have criminally charged others in the course of the probe, Renacci didn’t seem concerned.

“You know as well as I do, if you spend enough time in the haystack, you will find a needle,” he said.
