CLEVELAND, OH (WCMH) — Thousands of fans waited for hours in the scorching heat to watch the Cavaliers return home.
“I was hysterical,” says Gerrie Abshire. “My family thought I was going to have a heart attack.”
Abshire is 66 years old and has been waiting since she was 14 to see the Cavs win the championship.
“I’ve been waiting since 1964 to go through this. I’ve been through all of the sadness and I wanted to experience this awesomeness,” she says. “I’ve been crying since last night.”

After an exciting finish to last night’s game, nothing could keep fans from waiting to see LeBron James bring home the Larry O’Brien championship trophy.
“We’ve been dreaming about this all our lives,” says fan Carl Mitchell.
“Barely any sleep maybe two hours,” says fan Richard Regotti. “It’s crazy, absolutely crazy.”
“It’s amazing. It’s so exciting and electric,” says Abshire. “I’m so privileged to be a part of this. I’m so grateful.”
The parade and rally is scheduled for Wednesday in downtown Cleveland. Keep checking here for details: Cleveland CavaliersWhat others are clicking on:
