FAYETTE COUNTY, OH (WCMH) – A tornado damaged several homes along a stretch of US 22 outside of Washington Court House this morning.
It happened on the 3700 block of U.S. Route 22 southwest of Washington Court House in Fayette County.
Pictures taken by NBC4’s Beth Dal Ponte show a home with a heavily damaged room and insulation thrown everywhere. Debris, broken trees and at least one downed pole are scattered around the area.
The National Weather Service has confirmed what is believed to be an EF-0 tornado touched down in the area.
Homeowner Cookie Coyle says while the wind was howling, she huddled with her four smaller dogs in a bedroom. Outside though, Shadow, a Golden Retriever – Australian Shepherd mix, was inside a doghouse. When the winds finally subsided, Coyle looked outside to see that a garage and she’ had blown over on top of Shadow’s doghouse. A neighbor helped Coyle get through the debris and they found Shadow. He was scared but alive and uninjured.
