Columbus (WCMH) – There is a lot to track in the Atlantic and the Pacific right now. Its not uncommon given that we have just passed the peak of Atlantic Hurricane Season.
Below I have the latest model forecast tracks for each system in the Atlantic, East Pacific, and of course a sat/rad shot of the massive Typhoon in the Northwest Pacific.Super Typhoon Meranti:
According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, peak wind gusts with this Super Typhoon, classified as “violent”, at 190mph, or 85 meters per second, and a pressure of 905mb! This storm is forecast to continue to the northwest and cross Taiwan, and then into mainland China as a very dangerous storm.

Disturbance over Florida (AL93):
The NHC has a 40% chance of formation, or medium chance over next 48 hours, and the next 5 days. They are watching this closely.

Tropical Storm Ian:
Winds at 45mph with this storm in the middle Atlantic. Forecast track has it becoming a post tropical storm, and racing between Iceland and the UK by the weekend!!!
Below are the model plots and the official forecast plot.

Below is the model plot for this system:

Tropical Low (AL95):
This is a low that is coming off the coast of Africa. Heavy rains near the African coast as this system slowly forms, about 30% chance over next 48 hours, but that becomes a 50% chance for the next 5 days.

Hurricane Orlene (Pacific):
Winds at 85mph currently as it is drifting to the west at just 2mph. This storm is forecast to weaken as it pushes mainly west the rest of the week between 19N and 20N.

Below are the model plots for this system:

Tropical Wave (Pacific, CP93):
Moving away from Hawaii.

As of now, the storm that requires the closest watching for us in the United States, is the system sitting over Florida, and that could be quite a rainmaker this week. On a global scale, the Super Typhoon near Taiwan is the most impressive looking, scary looking, and dangerous storm on the planet right now.
