MARYSVILLE, Ohio (WCMH) – Two men were injured Tuesday morning when a freight train derailed in Marysville near Scottslawn Road.
Marysville police said the derailment happened about 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Deputy Chief Tony Brooks said the two workers on board the train were Chase J. Moore, 42, of Columbus and Lucas A. Barga, 49, of Grove City. He said both were taken to Memorial Hospital of Union County.
A spokesperson at the hospital said both men were treated and released.
According to a release from CSX, a freight train traveling from Toledo to Columbus moved through a misaligned switch and hit stationary cars. Several train cars and an engine overturned.
Brooks said the train was carrying car parts and that there was nothing hazardous on board.
The Environmental Protection Agency arrived on the scene to oversee cleanup of the spilled engine oil Tuesday afternoon.
Scottslawn Road remains closed at Industrial Parkway in Marysville until further notice.
