WASHINGTON (WCMH) – Tyson Foods, Inc. is recalling more than 132,500 pounds of chicken nuggets after it was found that the food could be contaminated with hard plastic.
According to the USDA, 5-pound bags of Tyson Fully Cooked Panko Chicken Nuggets with a “Best If Used By” date of July 18, 2016 are subject to the recall. The affected products were shipped to Costco retailers nationwide, according to a release from Tyson Foods.
The recalled products have the establishment number P-13556 next to the Best If Used By date on the back of the package.
Tyson Foods says the recall was prompted by consumer complaints about small pieces of hard, white plastic in the nuggets. No injuries have been reported so far. Tyson Foods says that products sold in smaller packages or at retailers other than Costco are not affected by the recall.
