(NBC News) — Friday on an all-new “Dateline,” a mysterious case about Atlanta businessman and millionaire Lance Herndon found dead in his bed.
As the police began investigating the murder, they also discovered that the victim had many secrets.
Here is a preview of Andrea Canning’s report:
TALANA CARRAWAY: It was going to be the best party Atlanta has ever seen.
A night to remember, to celebrate a man respected, charismatic, at the very pinnacle of his career. No one could have known that in just months, Lance would be dead. Who would want to kill Lance Herndon, the millionaire entrepreneur?
EVA ALLEN: The first thing I thought about was maybe it was a business rival that was jealous.
With little to go on, investigators needed to dig into Lance Herndon’s life.
CHARLES MITTELSTADT: What we saw on the surface was just a very small percentage of what was going on in his life.
ERICKA BOZEMAN: Investigators quickly learned that Lance had quite a few girlfriends.
ANDREA CANNING: Lance had a secret life.
CHARLES MITTELSTADT: Multiple secret lives, yes.
ANDREA CANNING: What were your last words to him?
TALANA CARRAWAY: “Be careful,” literally. I was like, “You better be careful.”
ANDREA CANNING: You didn’t realize how important those words would be.
TALANA CARRAWAY: No, I didn’t. I did not.
Watch “Dateline: The Killer Among Them” Friday at 9 p.m., on NBC4.
