COLUMBUS (WCMH) — The Harmony Project calls the Lincoln Theatre home, a space rich in history and a pillar of the community.

The theatre itself has been around since 1928. It was the place where people would dress up and go for a night on the town.

The theatre hosted everything from social events to concerts, with some of the greatest legends in jazz. James Brown, Miles Davis, Count Basie and Duke Ellington were just a few of the names who made it to the stage to the delight of audiences.

When highways were built, the theatre was cut off from the community, and the music faded away. The theatre eventually closed.

After 30 years, the theatre was rebuilt. In 2009, it reopened and is now enjoying a resurgence.

Not only is the theatre a valuable piece of history, it’s also home to new organizations like the Harmony Project.
