COLUMBUS (WCMH) — The Columbus Police Campus Walkie Crew, a bike patrol unit, caught a suspect for an off-campus burglary and sex crime late Thursday night.
It happened on E. 14th Avenue around 11pm. All of it was captured on body camera.
A woman called 911 after finding an unknown man inside her home. After arriving at the residence, officers spotted the suspect through a window. 22-year-old Calvin Bishop Lynn was lying naked on the couch. Police attempted to force entry, but were able to get into the home with a key.
“The female resident had stated that an unknown male had entered the residence and had attempted to sexually assault two individuals inside the residence,” said Commander Jennifer Knight.
She said the Campus Walkie Crew is comprised of 12 uniformed officers and a sergeant on bikes, assigned to the immediate campus area.
“That’s exactly what happened in this particular instance where a Campus Walkie Crew was able to get there very quickly and was able to see the suspect actually inside the residence, capture that on body camera, force entry and ensure the safety of everyone,” said Commander Knight.
The two women inside the home were unharmed.
Lynn’s last known address was in Lexington, Kentucky. He’s been charged with burglary and public indecency, engaging in a sex act.
